Lodging for NATA Workshops

Lodging arrangements vary with the workshop locations. Specific information is listed below.

 

Lodging for the NWCG Basic Certified Wildland Fire Training in Gainesville

The Paramount Plaza hotel in Gainesville has offered us a special group rate of $65.00 per night plus tax. To reserve your lodging call the hotel toll free at 877-992-9229. Remember to ask for the special group rate associated with the "Fire Training Workshop." Be sure to call early to ensure that you get a room. Hotel rooms fill up fast in Gainesville especially just prior to the start of the school year.

Lodging for workshops held at the Disney Wilderness Preserve

For workshops that take place at the Disney Wilderness Preserve (DWP), we have arranged for accomodations at the Alhambra Resort which is only 5 minutes from DWP. The Alhambra is a time share resort with 2 bedroom suites. The 2 bedroom suites have 2 private bedrooms each with their own private bathroom as well as a shared living room and kitchen. These are available for $60.00 per person/per night. We will pair you up with another workshop participant of the same gender. If you have a suite mate preference, please let us know by making a note on the registration form. Please remember that each bedroom and bath are totally private. Participants must reserve lodging on the registration form when registering for the course. Please do not contact the resort directly to reserve lodging.

Cancellation policy: If you must cancel your lodging, refunds are only available prior to two weeks before the course date. If lodging is cancelled two weeks prior to the course (or less) it is non-refundable.

Lodging information for "Managing Visitors and Volunteers in Natural Areas" at Gold Head Branch State Park. Participants will have the option to stay in charming lakeside vacation cabins (with kitchens) on site at the park for $35.00 per person/per night. Lodging must be reserved on-line when registering for the workshop. Lodging will be shared and participants will be assigned cabin-mates by gender or they can request a specific cabin-mate when they complete the on-line registration form. An optional catered dinner will be available on October 27 and October 28 for an additional charge. The on-line registration form will give you the option of purchasing dinner.

Lodging information for "Conservation Site Assessment and Planning" at Ordway-Swisher Biological Station in Melrose, Florida.

Participants will have the option to stay in charming lakeside vacation cabins (with kitchens) at Gold Head Branch State Park* for $35.00 per person/per night. Lodging must be reserved on-line when registering for the workshop. Lodging will be shared and participants will be assigned cabin-mates by gender or they can request a specific cabin-mate when they complete the on-line registration form.

Lodging for the Vegetation Monitoring course at Archbold Biological Station

"Vegetation Monitoring in a Management Context" takes place at Archbold Biological Station located south of Lake Placid, Florida. Workshop participants stay in shared cabins during the course. Lodging is reserved when you register for the course. All meals and lodging are included in the tuition starting with lodging and lunch on March 1 and ending with lunch on March 6.

If you wish to stay at Archbold the night before the workshop begins or the night after it ends, you may contact Ann Thompson (863) 465-2571 at Archbold Biological Station to request this as it is not included in regular course registration. You will be responsible to pay Archbold directly for any additional meals and lodging.
