Lodging arrangements vary with the workshop locations. Specific information is listed below.
Lodging for the Disney Wilderness Preserve
For workshops that take place at the Disney Wilderness Preserve (DWP), we have arranged for accomodations at the Alhambra Resort which is only 5 minutes from DWP. There are numerous hotels in Kissimmee which are cheaper but they are at least 30 minutes away. The Alhambra is a time share resort with 2 bedroom suites. The 2 bedroom suites have 2 private bedrooms each with their own private bathroom as well as a shared living room and kitchen. These are available for $60.00 per person/per night. We will pair you up with another workshop participant of the same gender. If you have a suite mate preference, please let us know by making a note on the registration form. Please remember that each bedroom and bath are totally private. Participants must reserve lodging when registering for the course.
Lodging for the Barrier Island Sanctuary Management and Education Center
Participants must reserve their own lodging for the Applying Technology to Management workshop. Accommodations for the Barrier Island Sanctuary Management and Education Center are limited. For this reason we highly recommend that you reserve your lodging as soon as possible. Listed below you will find several lodging options. Lodging for Archbold Biological Station
"Vegetation Monitoring in a Management Context" takes place at Archbold Biological Station located south of Lake Placid, Florida. Workshop participants stay in shared cabins during the course. Lodging is reserved when you register for the course. All meals and lodging are included in tuition. If you wish to stay at Archbold the night before the workshop begins or the night after it ends, you may contact Cheryl Henderson (863) 465-2571 at Archbold Biological Station to request this as it is not included in regular course registration. You will be reponsible to pay Archbold directly for the additional meals and lodging.
Lodging for Camp Kulaqua
"Working Across Boundaries to Protect Ecosystems" takes place at Camp Kulaqua in High Springs, Florida. Particpants will stay in rustic 2 bedroom chalets. Each chalet has two bedrooms with private adjoining bathrooms. We will pair you up with another workshop participant of the same gender to share the chalets. Let us know if you have a chalet mate preference by making a note on the on-line registration form. The chalets are set in a wooded area at one side of the camp. Flashlights are advisable as outdoor lighting is very limited. Participants will have the option of a two or three night stay. For participants who stay in the chalets at Camp Kulaqua, meals are provided during the duration of the course. You must reserve your lodging when registering for the course.
Lodging for Restoration Planning and Techniques for Forested Lands (Nature's Classroom)
Participants must reserve their own lodging for the Restoration Planning and Techniques for Forested Lands course. The nearby Sleep Inn located at 12282 Morris Bridge Road has offered us a group rate of $89.99 per night plus tax single occupancy, and $98.99 per night plus tax double occupancy.
