Natural Areas Training Academy Graduate Profiles
David Birdsall

Dave Birdsall currently works for the South Florida Water Management District as a Land Manager implementing resource management projects on 60,000 acres in the Upper Kissimmee Valley. Dave has numerous responsibilities including prescribed fire, exotic plant removal, vegetation management, contract management, management planning, and public use. Dave also works cooperatively with other agencies and land owners in the region. Prior to joining the District, Dave worked for DEP as a Biologist. He was in the Peace Corps studying and conserving the American crocodile in the Dominican Republic from 1992-1994. He has a B.S. in Zoology/Botany from The University of Western Australia. Dave received his Certificate in Natural Areas Management from the Natural Areas Training Academy in 2002.
