Natural Areas
Training Academy

Our mission is to provide natural resource managers with opportunities for training in the strategies of natural areas management to positively affect the conservation of natural landscapes, both in public and private ownership. This training is focused on, but not limited to, Florida's natural areas.

Our workshops are practical, field-oriented and packed with up-to-date management techniques. You will work in small groups on real problems, helping to better prepare you to care for Florida's natural lands and waters. Many of the workshops are held at The Nature Conservancy's Disney Wilderness Preserve in Kissimmee - a 12,000-acre, landscape-scale restoration area with great opportunities for field study. Others are held at selected sites around the state based upon the match of teaching facilities in close proximity to natural lands.

Our audience is a diverse group of professionals, including employees of government agencies (both state and local), private firms and nonprofit organizations. They are both new Floridians and experiences conservation managers. They share a common goal: to learn new techniques and share their experiences with others so they can improve their ability to manage Florida's remaining natural lands.

Our instructors are managers with many years of experience with The Nature Conservancy, the University of Florida and many public and private land management agencies. A major strength of these workshops is that managers work with managers to become even better at what they do.

Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) can be earned through these workshops. Check with the professional organization that provides you with certification.
